Connecting the Dots Breakout Session

In this session, you will learn about Connecting the Dots (CTD) – an innovative project funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, which seeks to promote the mental health of urban Aboriginal youth and families by mobilizing the community to address risk and protective factors influencing mental health.  Currently, there are 3 communities involved in this project which is led in partnership by the Canadian Mental Health Association- BC Division (CMHA BC) and the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC).

Policy Implications

Connecting the Dots is closely aligned with strategic government priorities, such as the Transformative Change Accord: First Nations Health Plan, which seeks to close the health gaps between First Nations and other British Columbians, in part through establishing mental health programs and increasing the involvement of Aboriginal people in decision making, planning and service delivery for First Nations.
